Currently (as of March 2010), Harakat has a £30 million (≈US$50 million) fund available, provided by the UK Department for International Development (DFID), to fund projects aimed at improving the business environment in Afghanistan. We aim to build this into a US$100million fund by attracting additional donor and private sector funding.

Ideally, we would like to see robust private sector financial support of Harakat as evidence of the private sector’s acknowledgement of its need to be involved in finding its own solutions for the issues dogging the investment environment in Afghanistan.
